About NBTA Foundation
The National Business Travel Association (NBTA) founded the NBTA Foundation, formerly the Institute of Business Travel Management (IBTM), in 1997 to provide resources to business travel professionals in order to meet the growing challenges facing the industry.  The NBTA Foundation is a leading provider of ongoing research and education, with 75% of its annual capital spent on these initiatives alone.  In March of 2003, the Foundation launched the Business Travel Today & Tomorrow capital campaign to renew funding to finance groundbreaking research initiatives and create landmark educational opportunities for people in the business travel industry.  To date, the NBTA Foundation has raised a total of $4.9 million through the generosity of corporate supporters.

Purpose
The mission of the NBTA Foundation, the education and research foundation of the National Business Travel Association, is to maintain on-going financial resources to conduct research initiatives beneficial to the entire business travel industry; to support educational research offerings for business travel industry professionals; and to provide scholarship opportunities for business travel professionals.

The NBTA Foundation was established in 1997.

Membership
 

The National Business Travel Association has a total of 2,700 members, including 1,650 direct buyer members and 1050 allied/supplier members.  The NBTA Foundation is supported by more than 50 corporate donors, as well as hundreds of indiviual donors from corporate travel management.  Corporate donors include suppliers, as well as direct member commpanies and NBTA Chapters.

 

What Does NBTA Foundation Offer Members
Research that educates:  Since its inception, the NBTA Foundation has conducted several large research efforts aimed to broaden the awareness of managed corporate travel and its positive affects on a company’s bottom line.  The Foundation's latest research initiative is a Managed Travel Indexsm and Benchmarking Tool.  The NBTA Foundation partnered with Simat, Helliesen & Eichner, Inc. and Partnership Travel Consulting, Inc. to create a tool that measures the Return of Investment (ROI) of corporate managed travel programs.  To date, the Foundation has delivered eight major research initiatives.  To view a complete list of research projects, click here. 

Education:  In 2001, the NBTA Foundation began a partnership with the world-renown Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania to provide travel professionals with the industry’s only master’s level program, the Global Leadership Program (GLP).  Participants who complete three 2-day sessions and one 5-day session in three of the four main competencies:  Leadership, Management, Finance and Marketing receive a Certificate of Professional Development issued by The Wharton School and the NBTA Foundation.

Scholarships:  To date, the NBTA Foundation has awarded 250 scholarships, totaling nearly $1 million to NBTA members.  The scholarships provide individuals with grants to attend NBTA’s Certified Corporate Executive Program (CCTE), the Global Leadership Program (GLP) and the Independent Studies Program (ISP).
