August 5, 2004 (Orlando, FL) -- The Institute of Business Travel Management (IBTM), the education foundation of the National Business Travel Association (NBTA), awarded $85,000, in scholarships during the NBTA 36th Annual Convention in Orlando, FL. These merit-based scholarships provide grants to attend the Certified Corporate Travel Executive program (CCTE), the Global Leadership Program at The Wharton School (GLP) or an Independent Studies Program.  This year, IBTM received the largest number of scholarship applications to date.

IBTM awarded the following:

  • Fifteen CCTE scholarships worth $2,000 each. Each CCTE Scholarship is given in the name of one of IBTM’s Founding Donors.
  • Nine travel professionals with the grants for the five-day GLP session held each year at The Wharton School in Philadelphia.  The grants provide recipients full tuition, room and board, as well as materials for the program.
  • Seventeen scholarships for two-day GLP programs held throughout the year at various locations across the country.  The grant provides tuition, materials and some meals.
  • A $5,000 Independent Studies Program grant, designed to offer business travel professionals an opportunity to seek educational offerings from an accredited institution or organization.
  • The Mike Kabo Global Scholarship, created to honor one of the industry's leaders.  This scholarship is given each year to a Direct Member residing outside of the United States to provide the recipient with NBTA Convention Registration and tuition for the two-day Global Leadership Program session.
