Alexandria, VA (February 6, 2006) -- The NBTA Foundation, the education and research foundation of the National Business Travel Association (NBTA), today provided NBTA members a report that allows individual travel managers to compare their compensation levels and benefits to that of their peers.
“As the only research and education foundation in the corporate travel industry, the NBTA Foundation is pleased to provide travel managers this comprehensive compensation and benefits report,” said NBTA Foundation Chair Ellen Keszler. “The data provided will help travel managers better position themselves to achieve their professional goals.”
The NBTA Foundation 2005 Travel Management Compensation and Benefits Survey focuses on three primary areas: responsibilities, compensation and employee benefits. The report, based on 227 survey responses received in October and November of 2005, provides compensation data relative to various criteria, such as job level, geography, company sales and experience. The study also compares retirement plans, stock options, incentives and bonuses, annual leave, professional training and more.
Some key findings of the report are as follows:
- Average total compensation of respondents, including salary, bonus, and commission, is $86,227. That represents an increase of 8.1 percent from 2002.
- The two most common job titles of respondents to the survey are Manager (59.5%) and Director (17.2%).
- The average respondent has 13.2 years of travel management experience and 5.9 years in her/his current position.
- Nearly one quarter (24.2%) of respondents holds a Certified Corporate Travel Executive (CCTE) designation.
- More than three quarters of respondents (76.2%) are female.
