Alexandria, VA (November 13, 2006) – The NBTA Foundation, the education and research foundation of the National Business Travel Association (NBTA), is hosting an education session titled Profitable Development – Driving Growth, Creating Value on November 12-14 in New Orleans as part of its Global Leadership Professional (GLP) program.  The session will focus on the specific conditions in which growth leads to value creation and value destruction.  Participants in the course will assess the impact of improvements in operating performance, customer selection, growth and risk.  Nearly 20 corporate travel professionals will attend the event.

The GLP program, the business travel industry’s only master’s-level professional development program, is offered through a partnership between the NBTA Foundation and the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.  Coursework includes one five-day course and three two-day sessions conducted by Wharton School professors on topics such as leadership, finance, marketing and management.  Participants who complete the coursework earn a certificate of professional development and then move on to a one-year project that earns them the GLP designation.

Donna Kelliher, Director of Travel Services for Dominion Resources and a participant in the GLP program, commented, “The partnership between the NBTA Foundation and Wharton has exceeded my personal and professional expectations in every way, at every session. The GLP has prepared me and other travel industry leaders for the present and the future."

The NBTA Foundation, formerly the Institute of Business Travel Management (IBTM), is the education and research foundation of the National Business Travel Association (NBTA).
